About the role
Our client is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with 4–8 years of experience to join a small, high-impact backend team as a strong independent contributor. This role focuses on building and scaling the backend services that power a high-growth SaaS platform used by modern GTM teams.
This is a fast-paced environment where engineers take ownership of features end-to-end, operate with autonomy, and collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership. The team is lean, execution-focused, and looking for someone who can quickly contribute with minimal oversight.
What you will do
Design, build, and ship backend services using TypeScript and Node.js on AWS or GCP
Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions independently
Monitor application logs, troubleshoot production issues, and proactively improve system performance and reliability
Collaborate on API design, infrastructure decisions, and code reviews
Contribute to a high-ownership engineering culture through active participation in standups and technical discussions
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend systems that support high-volume event-driven workflows
Required experience
4–8 years of experience as a Senior or Lead backend engineer in growth-stage startups or large-scale technology companies using Node.js, TypeScript, and SQL
Senior or Lead Engineer title in most recent role
Most recent role is backend-heavy rather than frontend-leaning full-stack
Experience working in growth-stage startup environments or large-scale technology companies
TypeScript, Node.js, AWS or GCP, and SQL used in most recent role
Ability to translate product requirements into technical implementation independently
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
US-based with valid work authorization (no visa sponsorship)
Stable tenure history without a pattern of multiple short roles under two years
Nice to have experience
Background in CRM, MarTech, or GTM SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Apollo, or Clay
