Software Engineer, AI Client Solutions

Location: Remote, U.S.
Compensation: $140,000–$225,000 base + equity + bonus

The Opportunity

Fuel Talent is partnering with a growing AI company to hire a Software Engineer, Client Solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys taking complex, ambiguous business problems and turning them into practical AI-powered software.

You'll work directly with customers and internal technical teams to design, build, and deploy production AI solutions. Projects range from fast-moving prototypes and innovation sprints to more robust enterprise deployments where scalability, reliability, and maintainability matter.

This is a great fit for an engineer who wants to stay deeply technical while also working closely with customers and having significant ownership over what gets built.

What You'll Do

  • Work directly with customers to understand complex problems and translate them into working software.
  • Build production AI applications using LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, structured data extraction, document processing, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Design retrieval and data pipelines that enable AI systems to work effectively with large amounts of structured and unstructured information.
  • Build lightweight user interfaces and internal tools when a solution requires more than an API.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks, test datasets, and other methods for measuring AI system quality before deployment.
  • Own projects from initial discovery and technical design through implementation and deployment.
  • Balance speed and engineering rigor depending on the needs and maturity of each project.
  • Help establish engineering standards and best practices as the technical team continues to grow.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful hands-on experience building and deploying production AI/LLM applications.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: RAG, agent orchestration, structured extraction, document AI, or LLM-powered workflows.
  • Experience taking AI applications beyond prototypes and into real-world production environments.
  • Familiarity with modern AI development frameworks and tooling such as LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar technologies.
  • Ability and willingness to work across the stack, including building lightweight frontend experiences when needed.
  • Experience evaluating AI system performance and determining whether a solution is actually solving the intended problem.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively when requirements are incomplete, evolving, or ambiguous.
  • Comfortable owning projects independently while collaborating closely with a small team.

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Startup and enterprise environments
  • Data-intensive or technically complex industries
  • Vector or graph databases
  • React, Vue, Svelte, Angular, or similar frontend frameworks
  • GraphQL or WebSockets
  • Python ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, scikit-learn, or XGBoost
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Pulumi, or CI/CD infrastructure
  • C++ or Rust
  • Prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval systems, and broader generative AI tooling

Who You'll Thrive Here

You're someone who likes building, not just advising. You're comfortable sitting with a customer, figuring out what they actually need, and then turning that conversation into software that works.

You enjoy environments where there isn't always a detailed specification waiting for you. You can move quickly when speed matters, apply deeper engineering rigor when reliability matters, and communicate clearly throughout the process.

This is an opportunity to join a growing AI organization where you'll have significant ownership, direct exposure to customers, and the ability to influence both the technology and engineering culture.
