As an early engineer, you will play a critical role in setting Silkline’s technical direction. You will be hands-on, building our early product and talking directly with our initial customers and users. From the start, it is critical that you can build a 0-1 product with great UI/UX. As we grow, you will own and lead the architectural roadmap that will lay the foundation for the Silkline platform. Your technical leadership will be a key factor in supporting and growing our engineering and product teams.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Silkline, you will have...
  • Built and led the delivery of the early versions of the Silkline platform, spearheading pilot programs at initial customers
  • Worked with the team to think through strategy and the evolution of the business
  • Influenced new product and feature design while defining a long-term technical strategy aligned with industry best practices
  • Designed and implemented platform integrations with outside APIs, partners, and cloud infrastructure
  • Built something scrappily to show customer value, so that we have now earned the right to re-architect for scale.

Must haves:
  • 3+ years of experience as product-minded software engineer with either top-tier start-up or educational backgrounds (must be very strong technically)
  • Prior experience at a high pedigree start-up (fast growing, tier 1 VC backed, etc)
  • Strong product technical fundamentals with experience across the stack in modern tech such as Typescript (preferred), React, Next.js, Python or Go
  • Demonstrated track record of fast promotions and extreme ownership
  • Ability to lean in cross-functionally whilst remaining highly product minded
  • Significant/demonstrated interest in supply chains and adjacent industries
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface well with customers
  • Clear signals of ownership and taking the initiative to fix problems
  • MUST BE US citizen or green card holder and excited to be ONSITE 5 days a week in Seattle

Nice to haves:
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or supply chain operations preferred
  • CS degree from a top 30 university
  • Experience building out various API integrations including various ERP systems

Things to avoid:
  • frequent career shifts or recent management, need builders
  • week technical skills (avoid C-based or other lower-skilled engineers)

Notes:
  • Tech stack: Typescript, React, Next.js
  • Interview process:
    • Co-founder screen – 30 minutes
    • Tech screen – 1 hour (it says 1 hour but I’m assuming more time than this), half take home exercise and half live discussion to continue the project
    • Final on-site (3-4 hours) – 3 stages including a systems design interview (problem solving and product introduction), technical coding challenge, and lunch/drinks with the team)
