Job Description
As a Software Developer - AV Drivers, you will design, develop, test, maintain, and support device drivers for a wide variety of Audio Visual (AV) and Unified Communications (UC) devices. You'll work closely with engineering, product management, technical support, hardware manufacturers, and customers to deliver reliable software integrations that enable the platform to communicate with hundreds of enterprise AV devices.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and taking ownership of projects from design through delivery. You're passionate about writing high-quality software and continuously improving engineering practices by leveraging modern development tools, including AI-assisted software development and testing.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain device drivers for AV and UC hardware.
- Analyze customer requirements, manufacturer APIs, and technical documentation to implement reliable software integrations.
- Own assigned driver development projects from requirements through customer delivery.
- Effectively leverage AI-assisted development and testing tools to accelerate implementation, improve code quality, generate test cases, troubleshoot issues, create documentation, and increase engineering productivity.
- Conduct testing to ensure driver quality, reliability, and performance across customer environments.
- Troubleshoot software defects, communication issues, and customer-reported problems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Document driver design, implementation details, configuration requirements, and usage guidelines.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Technical Support, and hardware vendors to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.
- Meet with internal stakeholders and customers to understand requirements, validate functionality, troubleshoot issues, and deliver successful implementations.
- Participate in peer code reviews while promoting coding standards, maintainability, and software quality.
- Contribute to improving development standards, testing methodologies, automation, and engineering best practices.
- Evaluate new AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows that improve development efficiency while maintaining software quality and security.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, AV standards, software engineering best practices, and advancements in AI-assisted software development.
Qualifications
- Experience in the commercial Audio Visual (AV) or Unified Communications (UC) industry is preferred, including software development, control system programming, systems integration, implementation, commissioning, field engineering, technical support, or customer deployment experience.
- Familiarity with commercial AV platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, AMX, Cisco, Poly, Logitech, or similar technologies is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in C#.
- Experience developing applications using the .NET platform.
- Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio for software development and debugging.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and manufacturer API specifications.
- Experience using GitHub or Azure DevOps in a collaborative software development environment.
- Previous experience in technical support or customer-facing technical roles is preferred.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies is highly desirable.
