Query Engineer

We're partnering with an early-stage AI company seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build the technical foundation of its data platform.

This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working close to the database layer, solving complex data challenges, and building systems that power intelligent, customer-facing applications.

You'll join a small engineering organization where you'll have significant ownership, influence technical direction, and contribute to the development of a product at an exciting stage of growth.

What You'll Be Working On

• Designing and developing infrastructure that connects applications to a variety of external data sources.

• Building scalable systems for data ingestion, processing, and transformation.

• Developing and optimizing query capabilities to support complex data operations.

• Working with structured and unstructured data across cloud-based environments.

• Contributing to backend services and customer-facing product functionality.

• Exploring opportunities to incorporate AI into data processing and application workflows.

• Partnering with engineering leadership to make architectural decisions and establish technical best practices.

What We're Looking For

Core Technical Experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally building data-intensive applications or infrastructure.

• Strong experience with SQL and relational database technologies.

• Hands-on experience developing the underlying components of data platforms, such as query engines, data connectors, ingestion pipelines, or database infrastructure.

• Understanding of database performance, query optimization, and distributed data systems.

• Experience with modern backend development and cloud-based infrastructure.

• Familiarity with TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, or comparable technologies.

• Exposure to frontend development and modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Experience with AI/ML technologies, including LLMs or AI-assisted development tools.
