Platform Engineer
Position Summary
The Platform Engineer owns platform work end-to-end within an assigned scope. This role operates with day-to-day autonomy over assigned platform components, partners with senior engineers on technical direction, and contributes to broader platform modernization initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Own assigned platform components, including design, implementation, and operations.
- Build cloud-based platform services using infrastructure-as-code workflows.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to platform engineering standards and best practices.
- Partner with senior engineers on complex technical and architectural decisions.
- Diagnose and resolve production platform issues.
- Contribute to platform observability, CI/CD, reliability, and security-by-design.
- Document platform designs, processes, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Demonstrated production experience with Azure or a comparable cloud platform.
- Experience implementing infrastructure as code.
Technical Skills
- Cloud platform engineering, including container orchestration, application hosting, and networking.
- Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or comparable technologies.
- Platform observability, monitoring, and incident response.
- Production platform engineering and operational best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting platforms in a regulated industry.
- Relevant cloud certifications.
- Experience with on-premises-to-cloud migrations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge
- Modern cloud-platform architecture.
- Infrastructure-as-code patterns.
- Production platform operations.
- Security and compliance fundamentals within regulated environments.

- Designs and delivers production-ready platform components.
- Participates effectively in technical design discussions and reviews.
- Clearly documents platform behavior, processes, and operational runbooks.

- Owns platform components end-to-end with day-to-day autonomy.
- Operates effectively within an established platform team’s practices and delivery cadence.
- Continually builds platform engineering expertise through structured learning.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position is remote within the United States. Work is performed in a standard office or home-office environment and requires extended periods of computer-based work, including reading information on screens, typing, and participating in virtual meetings.
