About this role
We are looking for a Frontend Engineer with 2-6 years of experience to join our early-stage team building the world's first AI-native ERP for defense manufacturing. This is a clean-slate build with a modern stack (React, TypeScript, Next.js, TailwindCSS) where your decisions ship fast and matter immediately. We need someone who thrives with autonomy, cares deeply about craft and polish, and is excited to define the design language for a product that empowers people building mission-critical hardware.

What will you be doing?
•    Architect and implement frontend features using React, TypeScript, and Next.js: translating Figma designs into polished, responsive, production-ready code
•    Build structured chat interfaces, real-time dashboards, and intelligent form systems that blend conversation and action
•    Own frontend testing, validation, and safe rollout practices (A/B testing, Playwright) to ship changes confidently

•    3 - 6 years of experience in frontend engineering with React and TypeScript (2 YoE okay for exceptional candidates)
•    Salary: $170K - $230K ($175K–$230K base salary + performance bonus + early-stage equity (4-year vest). Significant equity upside as an early hire at a seed-stage startup.)
•    Equity: Competitive equity
•    Visa sponsorship not available
•    Hybrid work policy: Hybrid (1 week/month in SD for West Coast remote: LA, SF, Seattle); 3 days/wk in-office if in SD
•    Location: San Diego, CA, Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA
•    Report to: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rcmccartney/?skipRedirect=true
•    Tech stack: React, TypeScript, Next.js, TailwindCSS, GraphQL, Playwright, Figma, Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL

About Ironflow AI
Ironflow AI is building the world's first AI-native ERP for defense manufacturing: a clean-slate system that thinks, reasons, and acts alongside the people who build, protect, and defend our way of life.
•    Founded in 2025, Ironflow isn't patching legacy systems with a new UI. The company is reimagining from scratch how software supports operations at the cutting edge of the defense tech revolution. The platform surfaces risks, drives actions, and keeps teams focused on what matters most: delivering mission-critical hardware at speed.
Mission: To reindustrialize America by empowering defense manufacturers with AI-native software that makes work faster and smarter: where AI empowers people, not replaces them.
Culture: Ironflow values autonomy, urgency, and ownership. Everyone moves fast, solves real problems, and holds a high bar for craft.
Team size: 15 people
Founded: 2025
Website: www.ironflow.ai
Total funding: $12M

About the team
Ironflow AI is a small, tight-knit team of operators, engineers, and veterans who've lived the complexity of defense manufacturing firsthand. The engineering team is around 8-9 people and growing, with plans to add several more engineers in the near term.

What it's like to work here:
•    High autonomy and ownership: You won't be filling tickets or waiting for specs. Team members are expected to think like product owners, contribute ideas, and drive features end-to-end.
•    Flexible hybrid model: The team is primarily based in San Diego with a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in-office for local team members). West Coast remote employees (LA, SF, Seattle) come in one week per month, giving flexibility while maintaining strong in-person collaboration.
•    Fast-moving and mission-driven: The team operates with urgency and a shared belief that defense manufacturing deserves modern, intelligent software.

Tech stack: React, TypeScript, Next.js, TailwindCSS, GraphQL, Playwright, Figma, Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL

Interview process
•    CTO Screen (45 minutes)
•    Founder Culture and Mission Call (45 minutes)
•    Onsite (Half day)

Self-directed: thrives with autonomy on a small team without heavy process or support
React and Typescript
Based on West Coast (SD, LA, SF, Seattle); no visa sponsorship
3-6 years of experience - in frontend engineering with React and TypeScript (2 YoE okay for exceptional candidates)

Frontend testing and safe rollout practices (e.g., A/B testing, validation, Playwright or similar)
Able to be on-site in San Diego 3 days/week or 1 week/month
Product-minded: can contribute to what to build, not just execute specs handed to them (nice to have)
Experience at an AI-native startup, defense tech, or enterprise SaaS company (e.g., ERP, finance/accounting platforms, agentic AI products) (nice to have)
Next.js, GraphQL and/or Python/FastAPI (nice to have)
Open Ended Questions:
•    Why do you think they’d be a great fit?
•    Are you based on the West Coast (San Diego, LA, SF, or Seattle) and able to come into the San Diego office either 3 days per week (if residing in SD) or 1 week per month?
