Founding Engineer, Services

What You'll Build
You'll own critical parts of the platform across four major areas:
Backend Services

• Design and build scalable microservices powering scheduling, dispatch, incident management, patrol operations, and compliance workflows
• Architect event-driven systems that operate across cloud, on-premise, and air-gapped environments
• Develop highly reliable distributed systems supporting real-time operational workflows

Ontology & Data Platform

• Help define the core data model that powers the platform
• Design relationships, actions, and event schemas across entities such as sites, zones, sensors, alerts, incidents, compliance controls, personnel, and autonomous systems
• Build the foundation that allows AI, automation, and operational workflows to interact consistently across the platform

API & Integration Layer

• Design and evolve versioned APIs and service contracts
• Build integration frameworks for cameras, sensors, access control systems, cybersecurity tools, and other operational technologies
• Create extensible platform services that customers and partners can build upon

Operator Applications

• Build the web applications used by security operators and dispatch teams every day
• Develop real-time dashboards, alert management systems, geospatial interfaces, and operational workflows
• Partner closely with product and design to create intuitive experiences for high-stakes environments

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience building distributed backend systems
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Go, Python, or similar languages
• Experience designing APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Strong database design experience, preferably PostgreSQL
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and Kubernetes
• Comfortable working across backend and frontend systems
• Startup mentality with a willingness to operate in ambiguity and move quickly

Nice to Have

• React and TypeScript frontend experience
• Graph-based or ontology-driven systems
• Real-time operational software
• Security, defense, critical infrastructure, or compliance-heavy environments
• Geospatial systems and mapping technologies
• AI/ML platform integrations
