Data Operations Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Operations Analyst is responsible for processing inbound client and partner data files into our client’s record-keeping systems. The role operates with day-to-day autonomy on assigned client domains, working under the guidance of the Senior Data Operations Analyst on complex data integration patterns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes inbound client and partner files, including eligibility, claims, and contributions, using SQL and SSIS under guidance.
- Operates routine cron-scheduled batch jobs and monitors job completion.
- Maintains legacy VB scripts that support data operations workflows.
- Validates data quality and flags exceptions for senior review.
- Documents data integration patterns and runbooks for assigned domains.
- Coordinates with senior staff on complex data integration issues.
- Contributes to the team’s migration of manual file processing to automated pipelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may substitute.
Experience
- Minimum one year of data operations, file processing, or ETL support experience.
- Experience with SQL Server or another relational database.
Technical Skills
- SQL Server, including basic T-SQL and querying production data.
- Spreadsheet tools for data validation and reconciliation.
- Ticketing and operational workflow tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SSIS exposure or willingness to learn.
- Healthcare, fintech, insurance, or regulated-industry data experience.
- Familiarity with VB or VB.NET for legacy script maintenance.
- Exposure to batch scheduling systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge
- Relational database fundamentals for data integration workloads.
- Common ETL patterns and data-validation methodologies.
- Fundamentals of handling HIPAA-regulated data.
Skills
- Writes basic SQL queries for data validation and operations.
- Clearly documents data-integration steps and known issues.
- Communicates data-quality issues to senior staff.
Abilities
- Processes routine data-operations workloads with day-to-day autonomy.
- Learns SSIS, batch scheduling, and the client’s data environment under the guidance of senior staff.
- Maintains operational discipline across recurring data-integration workloads.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is remote within the United States. Work is performed in a standard office or home-office environment. The role requires extended periods of computer-based work, including reading data on screens, typing, and participating in remote video meetings.
